The 27 hour day.

On July 25th we woke up at 3am, rounded up 10- 50lb suitcases, 4 back packs, 3 rolling carry ons, 2 strollers, 1 carseat, 1 guitar, 1 ukulele….and our family of five…(Phew that was a mouth full!) and went to the airport, beginning our 27 HOUR journey to Ghana.
What now?!

Boarding at sunrise.
If you want to skip the details move down 2 paragraphs. Our travels took us from Indy to Toronto to Ethiopia to Ghana. And if you need a geography lesson, because let’s face it, most Americans do, that’s 1 stop in EAST Africa before we land in WEST Africa!

All in all our travels were safe, uneventful, and no major hiccups. The only slight inconveniences were not be allowed to use our car seat on the airplane (so we had to hold Oliver the entire 27 hours) and the airline checked our strollers all the way to Ghana instead of Gate Checking them so we could use them for crabby, tired children right off the planes.
Sleeping on the airplane. One on the bench, one on the floor.
The boys did fantastic flying and sleeping when we asked them to sleep. We totally beat jetlag with our last 5 hours flight because I made the kids sleep that whole flight and we woke up in Ghana mid morning! We stayed awake and active all day and slept hard the first night! Shout OUT to Jason for holding Oliver for most of the flight time that he didn't want to nurse. It involved a lot of walking! Shout out to Laura for planting the idea in my head 5 years ago that arriving in the morning with no naps could help beat jet lag!
The worst 6 year old tantrum. Welcome to Ghana.
And we arrived the boys were like crying terrors in baggage claim. I'm pretty sure we scared a few people but it did help us get through immigration a little quicker ;) All of our luggage and carry ons made it to our destination with us and we met our driver and escort back to the compound where we live and enjoyed a beautiful day in Ghana! I'm excited to tell you more but it will come in bits and pieces! Subscribe to get all the posts!
Home sweet condo.
Thank you SO SO SO much for all the prayers as we travelled. I know things could have been so much worse than what we experienced. I am so thankful for those who prayed for us throughout the entire time and I still covet your prayers as we continue to get adjusted to life here :) Praise God for the work he is doing in Ghana.

Praises: safe arrival! new home! friendly coworkers to show us the ropes!
Prayer Requests: starting school, friendships, discovering how to find the basics for living ;)
