Will You Pray For Me?

The Women's Ministry at SCBC is a new addition to our church. Here's a quick background:

The Korean church is huge and widely popular. Since we are so close to an Air Force Base many women who attend the Korean church have husbands who speak English and had no place to go. About 10 years ago the English ministry was started to serve the husbands. It grew and grew and grew and GREW into the church it is today.
For the 1st six months I didn't even know we are technically a ministry of a larger church. Our church just seems so functional on it's own that it isn't a necessary talking point at first.
Well, with the growth of the church came many new families, many with no Koreans in them at all. With more and more English speaking women attending the church and no place for them to be fed, the women's ministry was breed and passed on to a willing and eager young lady to gather the women in fellowship, teaching, and ministry.

I am beyond excited to be in charge of this ministry BUT I COVET YOUR PRAYERS! I also feel completely inadequate to be in this role. I certainly see the need and the areas of improvement. I love the women of our church and want to serve them. I want to provide a place for them to be feed. Will you pray for me as I do this?

Here are some specific prayer requests:

  • Sunday School: We are starting the Beth Moore study of the book of Esther. I'm beyond excited about and completely overwhelmed with the importance of it! I'm nervous. I'm speechless. I'm the leader! I'm scared! I love this book of the Bible and the vast value it holds. Pray for me to lead with confidence and assurance. Pray for me to love the women who attend. Pray that God's wisdom will be heard through Beth.
  • MOMS: We've already started studying a new book with the moms ministry. Please pray that we continue to be open with each other and that moms who need this ministry will attend. Also pray that we find a warm place to meet throughout the rest of the winter.
  • Prayer walks: We'll be starting a new thing with our church--prayer walks at cultural sites around the area. I thought of this idea when my brother was visiting. Korea needs our prayers. You can join us as we pray for Korea as well.
  • Me: I already told you how I feel inadequate for this job. I'm not quitting or backing down though. I know this is where I'm supposed to serve right now. Pray that I will be showered with confidence in my role. Pray that I won't be discouraged. Pray that Satan's attacks are thwarted. Pray that I will see good in what I'm doing. Pray that it will not take me away from the ministry of raising my son and loving my family.
  • The Women: Pray for the women who will attend our events and studies. Pray that they will be able to attend and come with willingness. Pray that they will be blessed in our meetings. Pray that they will be encouraged in faith and make deeper relationships with each other.
Please pray for these things continuously. I appreciate your prayers now, but I ask for you to join me in continuous support as I journey through this year of ministry.

  2. Thanks for asking. I will pray for these ministries God has placed in your hands. For when we are weak, He is strong. As you do your part, God will do His.

Father God, just right now, let Gail know that You are in control and help her feel the release and the joy in knowing this. Bless and protect her and her family as she works to let Your word take root in these women's lives. We praise you Lord for the work of SCBC and Gail & Jason's heart for people. Praise you Father for the fruit of the Spirit that You, Father, are maturing. Bless and protect the women and their families who attend. Bless and protect the church pastor's and their families as they minister to all peoples, as You have called them. Let the work of SCBC be noticed by those in need of hope and salvation and remove all obstacles for those You have called to be within the church walls to hear Your Word. Let Your Spirit reign and be THE shining light in South Korea. We pray this prayer in the name of Christ Jesus. Amen.

  3. Gail, first off, I'm definitely praying! Second, as you explore this area of ministry more, will you share what you're doing as well? I'm learning more and more that being a children's pastor will also involve working with parents (especially moms!) and would love ideas of what we can do!
