Outreach: BX Food Court
Today was another women's ministry event. I love planning our events and getting women together and involved in ministry. This is really fun!
Here was the plan: Operation Food Court Outreach
Meet at the gate to be signed on to base. (We have to have an escort with us on base, so our friends met us and got us on.)
Walk to the food court.
Scatter around.
Hand out info for the church and invitations to our Easter Service in a few weeks.
I'm not gonna lie--I don't like walking up to strangers and talking to them, let alone inviting them to church, and in a place that many people are not Christians. But the Lord asks us to be moved from our comfort zones and this was a big step for some of us (ME INCLUDED).
I started by talking to the moms around the play area and inviting them to the church. They were really considerate so I branched out further. After that I gained confidence from seeing the other women who were dedicated to handing them out too, as we shared tactics and stories....it was great! The Lord is at work in this place.
It sounds kind of silly. "The Lord is at work in the food court." But he moved us out of our seats! That in itself is a great feat!
Most people were very gracious and accepted the invitation, even asking more about the church. A handful of people literally just arrived in Korea this week and were looking for a church! Some people already had a church and some people flat our refused to even talk to us. No matter the situation, I know God is at work here. I'm so thankful for this outreach today and the women (and men) who helped make it happen. 3 men, 7 women and 9 children served the Lord today.
And, if you're in the Songtan/Pyeongtaek area and looking for a church, please feel free to join us for worship on Sunday mornings at 10:15am. Our church website is http://www.songtanbaptist.com/ and we would love to welcome you any time. Please join us :)
