An Engagement Revisited

Another chapter in my Year of Goodbyes. My dear, dear friend Dana recently got engaged to a loving Godly man whom she met while in Korea. They were planning to return to Korea after the wedding but I suddenly got a message saying that God had called them to a different plan and place. They wouldn't be returning and further more, they were leaving just 12 days after I got that message! WHAT!?!

An engagement revisited though? That's because Ben had proposed but with the ring on hold. Dana and Ben's friend was designing her ring and making it especially for them! Dana had no idea that today, at the goodbye gathering, Ben would surprise her with her true engagement ring--it was like we were watching the real thing and it was beautiful. Yelps and and jumping were involved. Good job Ben!

The gathering of friends was at a big park in Bundang called Yuldong Park, which is probably most famous around Seoul for it's bungee jumping tower. The bungee tower is over top a large lake in the center of the park. There are wide walking paths all around the park and plenty of things to do as you spend your day there.

When they said they were having a goodbye gathering, I knew I would drop everything to make it there and I'm so glad I did. Dana is a woman that I've known for almost 4 years, and although our paths crossed less often than others, she means a ton to me. She's been such an encouragement and a joy to see her grow through God's stretching process in the last few years she's been in Korea. She seeks God's design and plan in her life and consults him in her decisions, so I know this wasn't just a "leap" but a "landing" that was created for her and her new man!

I met Ben as a part of Camarata Music Company's Messiah concert in 2010. He was new friends with Dana at the time and I was able to see their friendship begin and blossom. I saw his tenderness and care for her. I saw his adoration and gentle spirit. I'm so filled with joy at this union!

And of course I was a blubbering mess having to say goodbye to this lovey girl. I have enjoyed so many visits and reunions with her. We've shared so much wisdom between each other and she's been a huge blessing of friendship to me. Thank you God for putting in my life and for guiding her path with Ben as they build a life together. Love you guys :)
