ICS Sports Banquet 2012
It's that time of year again! All 3 of our competitive team sports are finished and we gather together for the Sports Banquet. Dinner, memories and awards.
I love hearing the coaches share their stories and memories of the year. It's wonderful to see how they've connected with the players outside the classrooms.
Have you ever seen Jason on the verge of tears? My guess is no. (Unless you were here tonight...and you may not have ever noticed!) After putting his heart and soul in to the team, he got to brag about one of the boys who has the same heart for soccer. Sam rocked the field this year in leadership and skill. He led his team with passion, knowledge, determination and a level head. Luckily, he is only a Junior and will return to play next year as well! He has quite the reputation to live up to now! ;)
Jason coached both boys' and girls' soccer this year and it was a hard year to do both. He loves coaching but this was just a draining experience. No matter what though, his heart was in it and the students reciprocated their love. A Barca jersey and Barca mini ball were presented to Jason from his soccer teams.
Let me just brag on Jason a little more in this post :)
He is really starting to shine at ICS. His love for the school and students is beyond measure and I'm pretty sure every students knows that. I really love watching him shine in this place, and it's not just for the kids. His heart is in this ministry because he is working for the Lord. The work here is large, the laborers are certainly few, so we pray for more people to come alongside to join our work (Luke 10:2). Until then, he's going to give it everything he has.
Jason joked a lot in his first year that he "didn't have work to do because he was just the PE teacher." But it was certainly a joke. He's involved in both HS and Elem school days and beyond. He actually works hard to put together cohesive and meaningful lessons for his students. He respects his title as Athletic Director. And this year I've seen him really grow into his role(s) here. I'm so proud of my hubby. I'm beyond thankful to God for guiding us to PICS and our ministries here.
