Mother's, Compare Not

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there! I love celebrating mothers, new and old! This year I wanted to make a special effort to celebrate the mothers of our church. I began planning (moths ago) for a breakfast on Mother's Day before the service. I really love to throw together a theme and see it come all together. This was one of the good ones! The only thing missing was air conditioning...oh, and the borrowed sound system ;)

We reused some of the valentine's homemade decorations and added a simple but classy little twist to the table decorations. I love how it all turned out.

Breakfast was cooked by some of our men, a huge variety of fruit, yogurt, gourmet pancakes, bacon and eggs! It was so delicious! I just wish I could've eaten MORE!

Our speaker was Pamela Cubas, a newcomer to Korea and our church. She is a family counselor and mom of 3, and she spoke to us about the tendencies we possess to fall in to comparisons. It's so true, isn't it? And especially as mothers? I loved spending the morning together with these women, and being encouraged with Pamela's Godly wisdom. I'm looking forward to gleaning more wisdom from her in the next few years as well! God puts the right people in our communities!

Isaac helped with the setup ;)

Last year was a hard first Mother's Day for me. Isaac was embarking on a growth spurt--including crying and latching on as much as possible. I had a headache and took a nap with him all afternoon. We rescued the day by finger painting feet with Isaac for the first time. I love his little toes and footprints!

This year, back at home, we carried on the tradition of finger painting his feet! Jason made some homemade finger paints and we went to town. The homemade paints were really cool, Isaac loved it too. He even loved tasting it...good thing it was homemade and edible ;)
